WakeStar Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

Who we are

WakeStar ("we") is an alarm app for iPhone. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email blazefrostrider@gmail.com.

What stays on your iPhone

Most of WakeStar works entirely on your device. The following is never sent to us or anyone else:

What we collect, and why

Anonymous usage analytics. To learn which features help people wake up, the app sends usage events to our analytics provider, PostHog. Examples: an alarm was created or rang, a mission was completed, a screen of the setup was finished, the paywall was shown. Events include the alarm and bedtime times you set, your settings and permission choices, your device model, iOS version, language and time zone. Each install gets a random ID that is not connected to your name, email, Apple ID or device identifiers. You can see this ID in Settings → About. PostHog uses the IP address your request comes from to look up your country and region (for example, a state), then discards the IP address. We never store your city, postcode or exact location with analytics.

You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Share Anonymous Analytics.

Crash reports. If the app crashes, it sends a crash report to PostHog the next time you open it: the type of crash, where in our code it happened, and your app version and device model. Crash reports never include your alarm labels or anything you typed. They are part of analytics, so they stop when you turn analytics off.

Weather and location. If you allow location access, WakeStar sends your approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, to WeatherAPI.com to get your local forecast, and uses Apple's location services to look up the name of your town. Your location and town name are saved on your device so the forecast can refresh. Your location is not sent to our analytics; analytics only knows your country and region (see above). If you don't allow location, the app works without weather.

Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. We never see your payment card or Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to check whether your purchase is active. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts and an anonymous ID it creates. While analytics is on, RevenueCat also receives the app's random install ID, so purchase events (for example, a trial that starts or renews) can be counted with the rest of our analytics in PostHog. If you installed WakeStar from an Apple Ads ad, Apple gives the app an attribution token. It holds no advertising identifier and needs no tracking permission. RevenueCat uses it to tell us which Apple Ads campaign led to a purchase. When you turn analytics off, the install ID is no longer sent, and the attribution token stops from the next launch.

Feedback you send us. If you send a message from Settings (Report a Bug or Request a Feature), we receive your message, your app version and device model, a short summary of your setup (whether you have Pro, how many days since you set up WakeStar, how many alarms you have, which missions they use, and whether alarms are allowed), and your email address only if you choose to give one so we can reply. Feedback is sent only when you tap Send. Because sending it is your choice, it is delivered even if analytics is turned off. Feedback is sent separately from analytics and isn't connected to it, so your email is never tied to your app usage.

Service providers

We share data only with these providers, only for the purposes above. Each processes it on our behalf under its own privacy terms.

What we never do

How long we keep data

We keep usage analytics only as long as it is useful for improving WakeStar, and we keep feedback messages only as long as we need them to respond and fix the problem you reported. Data on your iPhone stays until you delete it or delete the app.

Your choices

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to how we use it. Email us to use any of these rights.

Children

WakeStar is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has sent us data, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
